Im new to the reloading sport and will be loading some loads for the Model 700 7mm Rem Mag 26" in the future. Does anyone have any good suggestions on any recipes to start out with?

139 Hornady BTSP with a healthy dose of IMR 4350 works very well in my Rem SS 700.
Very accurate in my rifle and terminal performance is outstanding.

IMR 4350 does work great with the lighter bullets.

150g BT and Re22 (not for close shots) is unbeatable in my 7mm RM (and WSM)

if shots will be consistently under 200 yards, spend a bit more and switch to 150g AB and re22.

I like the 160 gr sierra gmkbthp on top of retumbo. The deer don't like so well.

All above posts are good info. There are a ton of good 7mm bullets out these days as well as powders. IMO, I would keep powders narrowed down to IMR/H 4350 or RL17 on the fast side to anything with a slower burn rate. Also, you don't have to go full throttle to achieve accurate loads to deer hunt with. It's not unreasonable to achieve sub MOA accuracy and have nice manageable recoil.

Ive had a couple people recommend the Berger 168grn Hunting VLD. Any thoughts on that bullet?
killed several with it in a 7 saum

great long range does good at close range and would not hesitate you use it how ever

if i was gonna load something in 7 mag

120 nbt

or 140 nosler e tip

over max re19 or 22

Got a buddy that loads for several different people in 7 mag. 160 Nosler accubonds will one hole 3 shots at 100 yards with each one of the guns. I ain't sure on the powder part.

I picked up some IMR 4350 and 140grn Nosler Ballistic Tips for starters, I figured that would be a good place to get my feet wet.

I have been hunting with a 7mm Rem Mag since the early 80's, I have tried multiple factory brands and bullet weights over the yrs. Then go into reloading in the early 90's, with all my experimenting I believe the 154 gr Nosler ballistic tip to be the best performer on whitetail deer. Unfortunately, Nosler discontinued that bullet a few yrs ago. So, you either have the choice of 150 or 160 grain. I have not yet tried the 160gr. to compare it to the 154gr. as I still have several boxes of the 154's to use up.

I used Remington Core loks in 175gr for yrs. (recommended by fellow hunters), I was not happy with the results of the bullet. It killed deer, but always punched a very small hole straight through, very little expansion. The only time I can actually say I have great expansion from that bullet was on a deer I shot standing head on facing me, I hit him at the base of the neck and retrieved the bullet just inside one of the rear hind quarters, it was a perfect mushroom but took traveling the entire length of the animal to do so. AND...............I always had to track them 50-75 yds after the shot.

I switched to the Nosler ballistic tips and it has been bang/thud. NO Tracking. I did have a big bruiser drop in his tracks, jump up and take about 10 steps before nose diving into the dirt.
