So thinking about starting to reload. Nothing serious right now, just mainly a 300 win mag and 270 hunting rifles. What opinions on best press for the money and additional equipment do you all have? Advice and opinions welcomed and sought for. Thanks in advance

Have a rcbs press and digital scale new in box that would get you started if interested. Pm me if interested will make you good deal if shipping not too much.

Search this forum a bit, you'll find plenty of start-up hand loading suggestions.
First thing you do is get a manual and read it.

Then start with the 270. Do you shoot 130, 140, or what grain factory ammo? Rifle type, barrel twist rate?

The 300 is a big case, be sure your Press selection has the heft to Full Length size this caliber.

On your browser, make a folder, title it RELOADING and put all the links you find in that one place.
Midsouth, Grafs, MidwayUSA, Powder Valley, BrassmanBrass, List is pretty long.

Ask a lot of questions.

DaveB is spot on. Only thing that I will add is if you can find a buddy that reloads, sometimes you can learn in 5 minutes more than you'll learn in 3 months of reading. What part of the state are you in?

A RCBS Rockchucker Supreme kit will get you everything you need minus components and dies. Everything is well made and will last a lifetime. After you get your feet wet you can add on stuff you "need" such as a case prep center, trimmer, power dispenser, tumbler, etc.

The first thing to do is get a reloading manual read it and find out if you really want to reload. If you do reload a good buddy who reloads is a great help.

Thanks for the advice given so far... I do have a buddy that reloads and really liked the ability of changing powder loads and bullet type to see if I can get tighter groups or push it a little further down the range.

THIS. The only other thing you will need to get started that doesn't come with the kit is a good set of dial calipers. Me personally, I don't use electronic scales. Im still using the set that came with my kit. Ive got electronic scales but I don't trust them. I can fool the electronic ones, I cant fool a balance beam scale. Im OCD when it comes to my handloading and therefore I don't use a powder charger either. I weigh every single charge by hand on a balance beam scale.
