Looking for the best setup for a remington 870 wingmaster magnum for turkey.Looking for best choke and shot. Any opinions are welcome, thanks in advance for info.

I currently shoot a 870 SP with 23" bbl. I use an Indian Creek .665 choke with 3.5" Nitros and/or 3.5" MagBlends and its poison on the turkeys. I shot a Kick's GT .670 choke for years with 3.5" Winchester High Velocity #4s and was very pleased with that combo as well. If yours is a Wingmaster, you'll be shooting 3" shells, correct?

870, 3", win mags in 12 gauge #4's not sure on choke, take em all the time out to 60 yards, so I don't touch setup.

And here we go again :)

I'm starting to think I'm the crazy one REN. I had my forcing cone lengthened, keep my barrel deep cleaned, shoot 3.5 inch Hevishot 6's through a Jellyhead choke, and I've never considered pattern shooting mine past 50 yards. After reading the stuff on here, my gun should be deadly to 90 yards!

I had this conversation with LSU last year. To be clear I'm not calling him a lier I've just never heard of anyone using a LEAD #4 3" shells that patter with "ethical" patterns at 60yds. Most people shooting 4s I've seen are pushing it to get a round pattern at 45-50 much less 60.

I have also shot and patterned a few lead 4s in a few guns and seen the results. Again not his gun or choke though so anythings possible.

copper coated #4's, buffering agent vibrated into shot column before crimping, velocity is just over 1200 fps will produce a 65% pattern at 60 yards, I need to look at some of my old reloading data to find the exact powder and numbers of grains, it was a 1 3/8 ounce reload, nickel #3's would pattern even better back when they were legal

65 % of the load you mentioned would be about 118 or 119 pellets. What size area were those pellets counted in?
