Remington TSS

hopefully it is better then the other options of turkey ammo they have had lol. Id rather use a handful of rocks over the remington nitros :)
Exactly what I was thinking. Some of the worst patterns I've ever shot.

I kinda like them for a cheap backup, the No. 6's. Only when I run out of my fed TSS. They're not that bad through a jellyhead lol! Each gun throws different though. Leave it to an Auburn man to disagree with you ;)

Well to be fair I did go to auburn as comical as that is as a bama fan and I went on an athletic scholly :)

I'm just saying in my experience those nitros were BY FAR the worst performing lead loads I've personally ever seen

Passable as short range spreader loads for hazing possums and such

  That is hilarious
It's been a while now but before I had kids old enough to hunt I'd take my nephew on the juvenile hunt. He killed 3 years in a row with Remington nitro and factory full choke. 2 long beards and a Jake. Nothing was past 30 yards. I'm not going to argue with success

Did you ever shoot paper with them? Just curious because I've never seen an acceptable pattern with them. Or even close to acceptable. But, every gun is different.

Yes we shot paper. They were 20 gauge number 5 and I would have let him shoot out to 35 yards.

I've got a friend, I guess he's in his 80's now, and he uses 2 3/4 12 gauge in a fixed modified choke. He has no problem killing turkeys

We get too caught up in counting holes

You could throw a cat through the gaps in the pattern when I tried the rem nitro turkey loads. Count yourself fortunate.
Same here. If I had tried to hunt with those loads any turkey I killed would've been the unluckiest sucker in the woods.

TOTALLY AGREE! :tu:

IMO, turkey hunting is much more exciting when birds are shot at closer ranges,
so close, that the particular load & choke doesn't matter much.

But TSS is superior, no matter how you hunt, no matter what.

Would love to see more offerings in shot even smaller than #9,
like #9.5's & #10's, which could allow more open chokes and smaller gauges
to be more effective even beyond the more "traditional" quoted range of 40 yds.
And with more open chokes, less chance for a complete miss at 20 yds.

I love shooting new loads before season every year but I don't always hunt with the tightest pattern that I get. Now that I use a double barrel, I do keep searching for that wow pattern. The other barrel will have a Light Modified with a load of 7.5 lead

I killed my turkey last year with my 410 and lead shot. Max distance is 25 yards. This year I'm ordering a Jebs choke and already have some Federal TSS

I had a gun that loved them. Old Winchester 120 ranger with 30 inch barrel. It would throw a great pattern at 40 yards
