Well went coyote hunting this morning out at my spot in Smith County. I was in the same spot as the video and pics I have posted on here from last year with all the birds. Well seems there may be MORE of them this year however this morning they were in the field on the other side which is fine because when they start to split they will be all over my normal field spot.

The Hens were all still in a HUGE flock and so were the gobblers but they were all roosted next to each other and flew down together. Plenty of gobbling and excited hen calls to listen to but it was obvious they are still in winter flocks but also a good sign they are starting to get closer to each other and mixing together when they fly down. All in all there was approx 200 birds in this flock when they hit the dirt. It was fun to watch!

Oh and heck no didnt see or get to shoot a yote!

hard to say, habitat has ALOT to do with it. Last year i had a flock of 160 that used the same field until the week before season and broke up to where only 20-30 were using it but the others were still around but now much more spread out across approx 700-1000 acre area some of which i could hunt and some i could not. However they move around alot so some days that 20-30 would be 40-50 and others it would be 3-10 birds.

This area is habitat drivin though, the spot i have access to is land locked around HUGE fields and i mean HUGE. My spot is the only big lot of woods really close so most stay on it all year but if they move to the other sides of those fields it is a LONG way off from where they were but in reality it was not far as they just moved over to another block of woods.

the way the habitat is set up on this area it pretty much forces the birds to spread a good distance to get away from one another. You can see from the photo below kinda what i mean

Great looking area, but I sure wouldn't be posting the location on here.

You are more trusting than I am :) !
