Restring crossbow

I have ordered a string for my Horton xbow. Horton said to replace cables every 3 years. What do y'all think. I just want to make sure I don't spend money that dosent need to be spent. The string is fraying so that was a no brainer. Thanks.

I change out my crossbow strings every 3 years. Even if they aren't fraying, they DO stretch a bit over 3 years. I also send my crossbows back to the factory for the restringing because most of the time the factory will upgrade the crossbow for free or just a small charge if they have made improvements since I bought it.
