I don't want to give you five the big head but when I need some guidance yal were who came to mind. And since that's why we're here anyway. Mossberg 500 super bantam 20. I need to find out how to attach a bipod to it. We have a Caldwell field pod, and smaller tripod, and a trigger stick but all of those will most likely result little man into gett busted. I know they make a bipod shotgun adapter but I've not seen any for anything but a 870. Anybody got any solutions? I don't want the stick type bipods either. It would be quicker to set him up and he wouldn't move as much. I really like the vanguard but I would still need an adapter if I got it. No worries if yal haven't seen. I wouldn't expect any less advice from Greg. Thanks tho.

Take a look at hs strut v pod shooting stick it attaches to the barrel of a 12 or 20 gauge, folds out and gives you a rest. A guy I hunt with had one and it worked fine. They are on line for around 25 dollars. See what you think!

I have a adjustable monopod type rest that clamps to the shotgun barrel. Its like new. Your welcome to it if you want it

Poleaxe, i'm a dedicated shooting stick user. I've tried about everything. If you have a younger kid outside a blind, it's gonna be tough no matter what you use. Keep in mind, (usually) the more stable the rest, the less ability you have to adjust direction of the muzzle quickly. My daughter used a monopod shooting stick when she started hunting around age 9.

If you're set on something more stable, I'd look hard at a short bipod trigger stick for outside a blind. The Caldwell Fieldpod might work for you, but I don't know how low they can go. I've only seen them used in blinds.

Roost1 makes me sit in a blind so I don't get busted [emoji23]

Sorry man, I have no experience with shooting sticks or adapters.

Poleaxe,

No experience with bipods etc, but sounds like whiskey has provided some sage advice. This is a good topic and I hope to be in your shoes in a few years when my daughters get old enough to go with me. Best of luck to you two this spring.

Not any of the above, but my son has been using the V-pod for several years and it has served him well. I have the mount on my gun but rarely attach the V-pod.

Sorry dude, I've got nothing on that stuff. Wish I could offer something but I've literally got nothing.

I bought one of the Raptor Adaptors at the NWTF show today. Looks pretty neat. I'll give it a try.

When Wesley was 8, I got an adapter with a monopod for his gun. I was concerned that he couldn't hold the gun up even though I really didn't like the attachment. A few weeks before season we got out and practiced in the yard with dove shots without a rest. I put bottles in the yard and had him to simulate turning and shooting. To my surprise, he could hold the gun up and stay on target with no problem. We ditched the monopod but did carry a shooting stick for him to rest the gun on while waiting. He killed his first turkey that year at 30 yards. I never thought he could do it but did to my surprise.
