I'd bet those three games are or can be the toughest in the nation for any team. You could have any or all of them undefeated up to them games.

I think it is more about LSU than the others. He has always wanted to preserve the Iron Bowl and TN game. He was in support of keeping it when the UT AD and fanbase wanted out. I guess people select their facts and want one season, or one game, to define their success and another's failure.

Like it or not change is coming. Some teams will have easier schedules than others and that will change through out different seasons. I'm not worried about the lsu game but I hope we keep The Third Saturday in October and the Iron Bowl every year. Those are the big 2 games. I don't really consider LSU to be a rival game.

What UT AD wanted out out of the series? I don't recall that and definitely don't recall the fanbase wanting out. As I stated above bama has kicked the Vols butt for a long time and I didn't want the series to end. Bama is playing UT, Auburn, and LSU now so what's the difference? Assume what he's getting at is other teams 3 permanent games are easier and without seeing them would probably agree.

I think Miss St would be great to play every year instead of LSU. Starkville and Tuscaloosa are pretty close to each other.

Wonder why he doesn't like those 3 being bama's permanent opponents? 🤔 Although bama has had UT's number the last 15 or so years, not counting last year, I wouldn't want bama off the schedule. It's a great series for college football.

LSU is hot on the recruiting trail . Seems like Brian Kelly has some recruiting Value. Only other SEC team to make the top 5 outside ALABAMA and Georgia.

Then Saban shouldn't be concerned who he's playing. I mean he can't lose with top 5 talent every year. Oh wait…🤣

It's very interesting that this article leaves out this quote from the interview. I wonder why 😉?

They said they did a 10-year whatever," Saban said. "Well, some of those years, Tennessee wasn't as good as they've been in the previous 10 years, but now they are as good as they used to be before those 10 years.

Miss St is a fun team to play but it does not have the TV and drawing power that vols, Georgia , LSU Florida and even auburn has. When ALABAMA plays those teams the viewing audience goes up.

Why give them any credit? LOL

I like this quote from saban.

"I don't know how they come to that [decision]."

Then I like how the article goes on to easily explain to saban step for step how/why they could come to that decision. Like come on man it's not rocket science stop crying.

MSU is Bama's longest running opponent and as pointed out, it is the closest opponent geographically. Every team should get MSU, Vanderbilt, USC, Kentucky, or Missouri as one permanent.

Bama vs UT is the biggest historical rivalry and should stay. Alabama didn't play Auburn for a long time; the only thing making this big is that both schools are in the same state which makes it big for most fans. Bama vs LSU has been a huge TV draw recently so there is probably some pressure from the conference for that game to stay but it is not really a huge rivalry.

One other option is to drop the use of permanent games.

Back before college sports sold out to BLM, i watched a ton of it. And the rivalry games is what made it great. The talent level or skill wasnt remotely close to the NFL, but the storied history of old schools revisiting matchups that have happened for over a century was very fascinating to me.
