That's a tough one IMO. The g2 flier that both these deer have is very similar. However it appears to me that the hard horn buck is 4.5+ in 2016 and the velvet buck appears to be 3.5-4.5 IMO (granted we are comparing a fall picture to a summer pic)...in addition to this the antler frames of both these bucks seem very different. The first buck has a short wide frame whereas the second buck looks like a tighter and taller frame. my best guess is that they are closely related deer carrying the same g2 genetic. I will be very interested to see the velvet buck in another 2 months to know if I'm crazy or not lol

Similarities are noted
but no way yet I could either rule out this being the same buck
or conclude it's the same buck.

If he's suffered a health, accident, or malnourishment issue (which certainly appears the case with the most recent pic above),
that certainly could make subsequent year's antlers smaller (yet still similar).

Probably just need more time (for the tine growth to finish) and more pics to make any conclusions.

More pics, different angles of the 2016 buck would be most helpful.

At the moment, I'm leaning towards these being 2 different bucks.
If different bucks, they likely have the same momma.
