Sandpaper that comes with calls

Ive got a Yella Hammer and I was going to ask what the sandpaper is for? It came with a green and black piece. Is it to touch up the striker and call surface??

Also when sanding a friction call sand in one direction, i.e. not in circles, and only sand one half of the call.

I've turkey hunted for 25 years & I was wondering why only sand half of the call as well.

Not captain, but I think I know the answer. When you call, a small portion of your hand touches the slate. That area of the slate absorbs the oil from your hand. If you only sand the top half of your call that you use for calling, you will not use your striker on, or spread by sanding, the portion of your call that has your oil on it.
