Savages 110 or 12 action

The actions are basically the same. The model 12s if I remember right are their target models. There could be some difference, and I would expect it to have a lighter trigger pull, but won't say that positively. At one time, 3 digit models were long actions while 2 digit models were short. I don't think that's the case anymore. The difference between the 10/110 and the 11/111 is the finish. I think the 10 is more deep blued while the 11 is almost like a Parkerized finish. Might be better described as a gloss finish vs a matte finish. The 14/114 is their high end models. Kinda like a bdl for savage. But the actions themselves are all the same, except how they're finished.

I'm not sure how to describe this, but... Some of the 12 "precision" actions have the "enclosed" ejection port. Looks like the action is bridged front to back. But...the 110 trail hunters use this same action. Some say it is stronger... Don't know.

they are the same action with the exception of action length, 110 long action, 12/10/, etc short action for 3rd generation and up. there were two versions of accutrigger, the orange colored on the precision rifles could be adjusted down way low.

All of the new Savages are 110, both long and short. If you are comparing the new 110 short action with a 12 you will want to check the screw spacing. Some are 4.4 inches, which has the best availability of aftermarket stocks, and some are 4.27. I also think the target actions were large shank, which would matter if you are looking for prefit barrels.
