Went out on public land this morning. As I expected the cold temps had put a damper on things. I only heard two gobbles, both from the same bird. After fly down, I moved in and determined where he had been roosted. Based on the amount of scratching and tracks, it appeared to be a mixed group of 10-15 birds. I'll be back again Saturday morning.

One note of interest. The soil was saturated from this weekend's rain and conditions were perfect for tracking.

I saw several birds this weekend and also leard limited gobbling Sunday morning. It was great to be out in the woods

Question.... you are in Williamson and so am I, and were you down in Maury scouting Yanahil? I will be doing the same as much as I can afford with gas prices, next week. It's my college's spring break next week so I will be shed hunting hard, and turkey scouting hard.

Oh and I really really need to get out at daybreak soon and find some birds to hear some gobbling. Just the spring air has got me in the mood but there's still nothing like hearing one sound off early in the morning.

Public land owned by the state of Tennessee is as specific as I will get. ;)
