First gobble at 6:09 am. Consistent gobbling started at 6:15 am. Today was an odd day. The birds have started moving around some. I'm getting ready for the juvenile hunt and Saturday morning was one of those days where you think, "If they do that next week, we'll get a double." After this morning, I'm not so sure.

Today was the first morning that I heard birds, who were apparently without hens, gobbling throughout the morning. There were two. One of them gobbled very consistently until I left at 7:30 am. Birds are starting to spread out and the flocks are breaking up.

Highlight of the morning...The bird I setup on did an incredible five minutes of solid gobbling, with double and triple gobbles thrown in the mix. I was about 75 yards from him and could see him clearly. He stayed in the tree till 6:50 am and then very unexpectedly flew down just 40 yards to my left. Even more surprising was the fact that he walked to within 10 yards before deciding I didn't look right. He then circled me at 20 to 30 yards and gobbled twice within 30 yards of me.

man its funny how not far away is so different in a single morning. I was out in Smith County this morning and they gobbled some but nothing great and when they flew down they were still together males and females. Not a single bird gobbled on the ground and not any of the 6 toms i saw ever went into strut. To be honest they didnt even care much about the hens walking away 100yds down the field.

That about sums up what I been seeing. i seen 13 toms and tons of hens out of the woods by 730 awesome morning no doubt

I'll be taking a youngster this weekend as well so hopefully the birds cooperate. As long as they gobble a little it'll keep his attention...pulling the trigger will be icing on the cake.

Yeah, yesterday was weird. The bird I setup on had at least one hen with him, and I could hear more hens beyond him. Yet he flew down away from both hens, and then gobbled hard as he walked away for 300 yards or so.

It also looked to me like the birds are starting to break up. One flock is still in the same area and following the same pattern as two weeks ago. During that time though the flock has went from 50 birds to 20.

I'm getting ready to go back out today, and I may move one juvi to another spot from where I had previously planned.
