Just wondering if anyone uses a SD card reader like the Lightning from Apple for your iPad? I have the small wild game viewer. It's nice for exchanging SD cards and viewing but doesn't save and has a very small viewing screen. Even if I exchange the SD cards I have to have a computer to transfer them to the iPad. I would rather use my iPad and be able to store the pictures, clear the card and place it right back in the camera. I purchased the SD card reader from moultrie yesterday. Down loaded i-easy drive but the reader will only work on my iPhone not on the iPad. I did down load to the phone than I transferred to the iPad. But that is not a instant process and takes up too much time and sucks due to my lack of storage in the iPhone. Three cameras and almost 4000 pictures makes it a problem.
So If anyone uses the Lightning or knows of a different SD reader for down loading pictures to a iPad right at the camera let me know.
I do not have a personal computer the kids do for college and the wife does for her shop. So good old dad has a hand me down iPad.

My son uses the Apple version in his ipad. He has been very pleased with it. I've not seen it used so not sure if he had to download and app for it or not.

I do. This weekend I ckd my cameras. I normally take a new card and ck them at home. This weekend, I plugged the card into my iPad, downloaded the pix, deleted them from the card and simply put it back in the trail cam. Takes all of 2 minutes unless you have a zillion pix where it might take 4 minutes

Jon54, do you use the apple lightning or a different reader? Did you have to down load a app to view the reader like the moultrie reader that didn't work on my iPad?

Have the lightning and works great as an sd card reader. It will NOT write.

Biggest problem is that Apple sometimes deactivates the ability of their devices to "support" the Lightning reader. When I first purchased the reader, I had an iPhone 4s (I think) and I would just take my cell phone in to download trail cam pictures to then delete the card and put back in the camera. Easy, until Apple no longer allowed the use of the lightning with iPhones. The same has happened with iPads. You can read about it in Apple forums. I just quit installing updates on my iPad just in case and I think the last iPhone update now supports the Lightning reader again, for now.

To answer your question, you do not have to install an app. When you plug the lightning in with an sd card and go to your photos it will make you import the pictures from your sd card to your photo library. Just takes a lot of space if you haven't checked your camera in a month or so.

Purchased it from the Apple Store.
I do have a question for the iPad people.
I imported the pictures, they went into a import file, the main album and I created a file to store pictures by year and location.
So here is my question, how do I delete them from the main album and import file and only have them in the new deer picture file?
