Got my first trail camera, a Moultrie A-20i yesterday, and I need an SD card or two for it.
There seems to be a wide variance in prices and types of SD cards.
Does anyone recommend a certain type, or a good deal ? Walmart seemed to have better prices than most other places. Is there any brand that I should avoid?
I have to drive 2 hrs to change the card in the cam, so I'm not wanting any surprises. (Well..., not wanting any BAD surprises).

Walmart is where I get mine...relatively inexpensive I just get the 8gb one...will give you word of advice always format the card each time you put it in the camera...I have had ano issue before after I viewed and didn't format on my Stealth Cam.

Great advice. Also always take extra batteries and change them out weather the can says its low or not. The biggest and most important thing to remember especially if your driving 2 hours is to remember to turn the dang thing on!!! I can't tell you how many times I've forgotten to do this one simple thing! Have fun with your trail cam!

Hit the nail on the head...I buy the lithium batteries they are little on the expensive side but for comparison sakes, my buddy bought a giant pack of regular Duracell and has had to replace 5 times and I'm still on 85% with over 20k pics :super:

I buy my batteries at Wally World and my SD cards on Ebay. I just bought 10 Lexar 4Gb class III cards for 15.00 with free shipping.

I buy all batteries (especially lithiums) and SD cards on eBay for a fraction of the cost you can get them in a department store. Every once in a while I will throw Amazon a bone too, but mainly eBay for my trail cam supplies.

There is a TNDeer Member selling SD cards in the Classifieds.

The price is right.

The shipping is FAST.

The quality is there.

Price differences (when sized the same) GENERALLY are related to the speed with which you can write to the card. Fast costs more, duh.

This, I'm actually needing a few myself.

Looks like he said his last batch went up for sale in mid July.

I wound up getting a "deal" of sorts. We have a "rewards program" where I work where we can earn "points" to spend on a website. The site has 1000's of items (including camping gear). I wound up spending some of my points on two Class 4 32gig SD cards (largest mine will take). So no cash was spent, and I've still got a ton of points to use.
I'll use the cash saved towards lithium batteries.

Walmart had some that were $4 they were micro ad with the adapter...
I've heard it's not good to use a micro sd card in a device that takes a full size one. The adapter is so you can plug the micro into your computer or card reader to transfer the files.
