So how many of you have a season goal? Something to strive for, as hunt a different state, wmas you would like to connect on, etc.

Same as always. As long as life allows, hunt as much as possible, enjoy it as much as possible, no matter if I kill one or not.

As of today, I just want to "play the game" with one only one more time. If I get that one more time, I'll just want to do it one more time again.

^ Exactly this.

Yesterday I finished my...well...so many I quit counting...umpteenth 1/2 marathon. Someone asked me, "How'd you do?" My response, "I was healthy and fit enough to run one more and I finished...it's a blessing."

Hunting and killing turkeys is kind of the same way now. It's a blessing to still be able to go, hear birds, work a few, and maybe pull the trigger a time or 3. If I had a season of getting skunked I'd still get up and go the next day.

The two of you hit the nail on the head I think, just something about being in the spring woods and experiencing them come to life, almost like a rebirth from the winter. Getting a bird is just a plus. I do find myself driven sometimes to push hard for that gobbler though, and I absolutely love it. Outside of putting the boy on birds, which is always my goal, I hope to take my birds from different wmas/public. I wanted to chase them out of state this coming season but that's not going to happen.

I have a goal every year to explore more public land. Even locally I can't get to it all with something like 170,000 acres just here close. I specifically want to explore more in the WMA I bought land close to. I also want to explore more public land in IL since I didn't get to hunt more there last year due to tagging one quickly. I would like to try a new WMA quota hunt in GA that I should stand a good chance of drawing. One that I really want but may or may not get to is a westernish turkey hunt. This week I have been working out in Texas and Oklahoma and exploring some public lands. I really want to hunt Rios in Western OK, but I only have so much time off, so I have to make priorities. The question is more of what should the priority be. I hate to give up a early hunt down South after a long winter. I hate to give up time hunting locally where I've been raised. I'll just have to make my mind up.

Yeah, I missed one last year. I think I shot over him at about 25 yards.

Since moving to middle TN, I'm not sure what to expect. I'm hoping to find a place to hunt where I can experience the "big woods" feel that I got from east TN. I've always got fishing to fall back on if I don't come to enjoy hunting small WMA's.

I'd like to at least hear more next Spring. Its been slow around my hunting spots for a few years. I heard more turkeys 10 years ago than this past Spring. I still enjoy it though.

same main ones as always, just a reminder to slow down and really enjoy each day no matter the outcome.

My side ones are always get a public land bird and find someone from here to go out and hunt with in a totally new area. Havent been super successful on these 2 but at some point I will.

Aedc wma, or bear hollow mountain wma

Have a successful trip to the northeast and knock off a few new states...Put my foot on the head of a particular Bama WMA bird that gave me fits last spring (possibly the past two springs) if he is still alive.. Kill a half dozen or so birds between the two above.

I have two goals each season, and have been fortunate to accomplish them each of the past 3 years.

The first is getting a bird close enough for my dad (now 78) to be able to hear him gobble (which has to be pretty close), and then get him in front of his gun barrel. He is still able to get around very well, so we get to have some great hunts.

The second is similar in that we make the hour and a half trek to middle TN 5-6 times a year and hunt with a now 80 yr old fella who has given us the opportunity to hunt some great tracts of land of his and his neighbors. He doesn't get around well, so our setups are always challenging. But, we've had some great hunts and thankfully he's killed a few gobblers over the past 10 or so years that we've been going. Hearing the pure joy of him re-telling a successful hunt is awesome.

I just want to hear birds gobbling on the property I hunt. I've not heard much for the last 2 or 3 years. If I hear birds gobbling at least I know I'm in the game.
