Season started out good with the juvenile hunt. A friend asked me to take his son while he hunted with his daughter on her first juvenile hunt. We got in before daylight got everything set up in a small field where we had been seeing several strutters and some hens useing. Right after daylight we had a gobbler fly down into the field with us just over a rise that never would commit (sub dominate bird) he hadnt been on the ground five minutes when a coyote run him off. After all that we could here the other birds working their way off the ridge. We had 9 hens and three strutter come in and he shot the strutter of the group which turned out to be a triple beard!

Opening day me and a buddy went to a new place i got this year heard lots of gobbling but didnt have much luck early! Around 9 got one answering the calls so i set my buddy up to take the shot.

After getting him his bird we headed to a different farm and played cat and mouse on some henned up birds which wound up being 4 strutters and 15 or so hens. Some loud aggresive calling i finally got one to break off.

Sunday we got on some gobbling birds and had a swing and a miss.
Tuesday april 3 i headed to my lease to do some solo hunting, the morning started off slow with not much gobbling on the roost. Some walking and listening later i found 3 birds gobbling in a hollow but couldnt get them to come up the ridge to me. They headed in a direction that led to a ridge top field so i circled them and got there just in time.

Wed april 4th i got off work around noon and headed back to the lease with the high temps that day i wasnt really expecting much. around 3 a quick rain shower blew in and with the clouds and the cooler temps i heard a bird fire up a long ways off. I hit him hard with the box call and he got to answering me back and i could tell he was cutting ground. It wasnt long before he was rounding the bend in the ridgetop logging road. he had 10/1/4 and 4" beards 1" spurs

Weekend of the 7th held tight lipped birds and left us scratching our heads.
Friday the 13th my brother in law came in from louisanna with a friend of his to do some hunting so i hung my gun up that weekend to do some calling for them. Friday morning was much of the same not much gobbling so we took a break and ate a bite and headed to another place. As we pulled in i seen three long beards on the edge of the field so we sat around and let them get in the woods before we made our move. We eased down to a corner of the field i figured they would cross and set up. 15 minutes into our sit the were gobbling every breath just out of site. 20 minutes later he had his first turkey.

Around 3 we headed to another farm to try to get his buddy one. After some walking, calling, and glassing we found a strutter in the middle of a big field with 11 hens, spent the remainder of the day tring to coax him or his hens with in gun range with no luck.
Saturday the 14th was much of the same tight lips and no turkeys to be found.
Sunday the 15th went with a buddy to one of his farms and let him use my gun (he was having some issues with missing with his) Got set up where we thought some birds were flying down. Daylight came and he fired off right were we thought but he only gobble twice. He flew down with a single hen and bang flop.

April 21 went back over to my buddys farm got settled in and not a peep anywhere set till around 9 and hadnt herd the first gobble so we decided to call her a morning. Came home and took a nap and decided to run to the lease around 2:30. Got to the lease and headed out around 3:15 Headed up the ridge to glass a field and found 4 long beards alone in a ridge field some soft yelps and they were within 15 yards at 3:45 i had my last tag filled with my second double beard of the season 10" and 8" beard and just a shade under inch spurs.
