how do ya`ll go about this,,

I do it all on feel alone,,is there a better way???

my tool is set so that when the primer bottoms I can feel it and I give it a little pressure from there,,not a crush but a firm seat,I dont think I have ever had any problems because of how I do it but would be open to suggestions

I also seat the primers by feel myself. There may be a better way, but it works for me. Never had any problems in 35 years of reloading.

BIG fan of the RCBS hand priming tool.

I ream pockets on new brass, then just lightly clean them with each reloading. With clean pockets, you can really feel when they hit the bottom of the pocket. I don't force them any more beyond that.

The best thing about the hand primer is that you can really tell when your pockets get loose, which I consider one of the best signs of excessive pressure.

Just be completely sure that it is seated! I was shooting reloads from a local guy in 30-06 when I had an accidental fire. The primer ignited when I let the action slide forward with the round in the chamber. Had the butt of the gun in my gut too. I don't shoot any reloads from anyone other than if I loaded them myself now.
