SEC announced 10 game in conference only schedule

Glad they are going to play. Wonder what that's going to do to this little schools that count on those big payout games to these major conference schools?

I don't do football-speak: What does "conference only" mean? Prolly gonna have to break out the crayons and small words for me. ;)

Bama and A&M added time UF schedule while UGA add Arkansas and Miss st. Hahaha smh

SEC is only playing other SEC teams this year.

This is just funny to me. 12 games guaranteed Covid outbreak but 10 were good to go?
Can't be traveling all over the country with this pandemic... just the lower 1/4 of the country?

What a joke.

I still don't think they will play. I sure hope I am wrong. I'm afraid pushing the start of the season back is just buying time hoping for a miraculous turn around in the data from several of the SEC states.

So where does that games get added to the schedule?

Does this mean Vols start week1 with UF or does LSU and ole miss get added to the front?

A report from late this afternoon indicated that TN may not be getting Ole Miss and LSU. It looks like strength of schedule may come into play rather than just getting the next two on the rotation.

Agreed.
There's a small part of me that just says go ahead & can it this fall. Suit em up next year like normal.

I agree it's not turning around by delaying a few weeks....just like our school district delaying start of school to Aug. 30. It's not going away, as soon as school starts or football games begin, there will be cases rise.

I don't know the answer. I think we just have to live with it and deal with it....that or we completely shelter and wait for a vaccine that may be 50% effective. Unfortunately, I think this is just life for the near future.

If they don't play football and have fans present, at least 50%, it will have major implications for businesses of all types in these college towns. I think the "cure" is going to be much worse than the virus. Businesses closed bankrupt, people out of work, foreclosures, suicides, adults and kids depressed, anxiety.

Big 10 says they may not play at all in the fall.

Governor Lee issued Executive Order No. 55 to allow high school contact sports (football)to resume on time. Tennessee is the 37th state that set a Fall Start date for Football. 7 states are planing on a Spring season, and 7 are undecided. (I guess they are counting D.C. as a state)

I don't doubt football will start but I doubt the season will be completed at any level

I agree. I think they should play. But, I'm not sure the leftist are going to allow that before the election.

LSU looses Texas game. There is not an SEC East team that can make that up since they play Florida every year anyway. If they pick up Georgia maybe.

https://www.aol.com/nick-saban-reacts-s ... 18177.html

"Alabama is still expected to play the eight SEC opponents already scheduled in for 2020. Those opponents include: Georgia, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Tennessee, LSU, Texas A&M and Auburn.

The SEC will eventually add two more SEC opponents to Alabama's 2020 schedule. It'll be interesting to see which SEC programs get penciled in to face the Tide this season."

Can't wait to see myself. But not getting my hopes up that we will see a single game played. I too think that they are thinking by delaying the season that they hopes this will all go away but I don't think they have factored in FLU season yet. When kids return to school and FLU starts spreading people are going to start freaking out worse than they are now thinking everyone has COVID-19 if they stay home sick a couple days , have a fever or coughs or sneezes funny. So I don't see this ending well for any kids at the High School or College level in sports.

Or the Whole USA for that matter.

Bitterly disappointed that ALABAMA will not be facing off against USC this season but with COVID-19 being what it is I guess there are worse things in life to be worried about.

The Pac-12 released their football schedule this afternoon. Like the SEC, it kicks off on September 26th. I personally think they should start sooner to allow an off week or two mid or late season if needed.

Listened to some podcasts on the way home and I am really out of the loop. Seems the ACC was the first to announce 10 games conference only? Then the Big 10 (or 11 or whatever the hell they are) says they're doing 11 or maybe waiting until the spring? Big 12 may only do 9 games.
No telling what will happen with PAC 12.
If nothing else this demonstrates, to me, just how impotent the NCAA is. how in the hell can you pretend to claim any kind of authority when your power 5 conferences, in the only true revenue generating sport have all gone off the reservation and are making up their own rules. I doubt it will ever get to this point because season will get cancelled, but how are you going to pick 4 playoff teams when the conferences aren't even playing the same amount of games? And I guess Norte Dame just saddled up with the ACC, so they don't get left behind & the ACC can pretend to be a football conference.
I think this is just all mental masturbation while we wait on them to call it off.
