SEC, NCAAs and Vandy

For some time Ive been thinking the SEC gets 6 teams into the tournament. Still do, barring a collapse by either Georgia or LSU. The loss to the Vols tonight didn't help LSU's cause but I still think they are in. Vandy has really been comng on since Feb 1. A strong showing in the SEC tourney and they might squeak in. That would be great. I think they will definitely get an NIT bid given their strong showing over the last month and maybe, just maybe, an invite to the big dance. If Vandy can get 3 more wins it's entirely possible and they'll be playing in Nashville. Whoda thunk it?
 
Vandy is not a good team, but they are better than their record shows imo. Look at the scores in the games they've lost. Most of their losses were very close games. I don't think there is any way they could get in the big tourney.
 
UF is way down this year as well. BUT they have lost 4-5 games in the final .5 - 3 seconds of the games. Record SHOULD be better. Doubt they even make the NIT.

I think they would need 21 or 22 wins to have a prayer. a big win in oxford is critical and then win 2+ in the sec tourney
 
If Vandy got in the tournament,it would shock me as well as it would shock most.I would be happy if they did get in.How many Tennessee teams do you believe will get in the tournament?

vandy is along long shot for sure. Belmont usually makes makes it. that may be our only shot if vandy fails, which is likely
 
I haven't kept up. How is Belmont doing? It seems like I remember them having an abnormally rough start. Belmont has a good coach.
 
Havent kept up with MTSU,Belmont,Tenn St,Austin Peay,East Tennessee St or UTChat.Maybe we will have at least one representive.Been along time since no Tennessee team has made the Tourney!
 
Belmont is first in the OVC East but Murray St looks to be the team to beat (again) in the OVC. I think all the other TN schools are very much long shots to win their conf tournaments. MTSU is in the middle of the pack in C-USA I think.

Maybe the best to hope for is a UT v Vandy rematch in the NIT, but I think the Vols have played themselves out of it and definitely possible the Dores could do the same. I do think Vandy's post season chances are in their own hands right now.

Belmont won their tourney last night. Great game, with a great play drawn up for the game-winning 3 with 3 seconds left.

I've never understood why someone never gave Byrd a shot at a bigger job.

His name came up for UT but said he's happy where he is and if I remember correctly didn't even interview for it. He's a UT alum I believe. My dad used to referee college basketball and speaks highly of him. Said some of the best games he ever had were the Lipscomb Belmont games.
