And I'm still on it. Hunting public land. Got on one early. I have chased him all morning. I heard a hen yelping and go to him early so I knew I had my work cut out. He has gobbled off and on all morning.

I finally got a good setup and he had answered. I went silent other than some soft leaf scratching. He had a gobbling fit at 100 yards or so. This is all woods btw. After a bit of silence I called again and he jumped on it but hadn't budged. He had another gobbling fit after I hushed again.

Then a car came down the gravel road that we had ended up close to and he hasn't gobbled since. I have moved around him and can wait another 30 minutes or so before I have to leave.

It's been fun!

Love those hunts. Sure the walk right in suicide birds are fine but the longer more conversational hunts are what it's all about.

I love when they have a gobbling fit. Luckily I've heard a few of them this year but too many times I go out and hear nothing. Hope to get on a fired up bird tomorrow. Good luck and I hope he comes in and you give him some lead

Sent from the talk of tap

That joker sounded off again back where we started.

He then answered me ..... once! He never showed nor gobbled again, and after another mind-numbing 30 minute sit, I tapped out and called it a day!
