Ok,

So I plan on hunting a new area come this spring. I have seen turkey in this area during the fall, but how are birds in fall compared to spring. Do they tend to stay around the same areas or do they venture to new areas during different season?

YMMV, but what I've seen across the south is in the winter, birds will congregate into MEGA flocks, 100+ birds, and not hang tight to any one area. They will roam all over. Once spring comes around, they spread back out.

For me, this usually means places that have ZERO turkeys in the winter, could still be a great place in the spring. I'm not personally familiar as much with the opposite.

You should have some birds. However, I used to hunt some land that was literally covered up with birds in the winter. In the spring they busted up like usual but would move off of us because we didn't have adequate nesting areas with cover. Once we did have that the birds started hanging on our property throughout spring and summer.

You should have smaller flocks now, and as it gets colder and heads into January they will start congregating into bigger flocks, and go where the food is. In the spring they break up all over the place, and it's likely you should have a few birds in the same area in the spring. Just remember they are more spread out in the spring, and more condensed into fewer locations in the fall.
