There are a couple spots on our property where I have seen turkeys on a regular basis throughout deer season. I know where they roost during deer season, but haven't scouted for them before the season.

My question is...should I plan on setting up near where they roosted in a swamp during deer season or do they totally change habits? I have seen them in this area 4 years in a row roosting now and this is the first year I have been able to hunt them. If anyone could give me any tips on how to set up and call for them during different parts of the morning, that would be awesome.

Hate to say it, but they can have a totally different pattern.

In fact, it is possible that they may not even still be on the property, depending on size. If you have never been on the property during the spring, you will have your work cut out for you.

You need to get to the highest point at first day break, and listen for them to sound off.

Alot of truth in the above.

If they are still on the property, then I would bet good money they are roosting near where they did this fall/winter. The only thing that would change that is food sources, if all is equal and they are still around, chances are they will be close.

But as Doug stated, the best approach first day, is to get somewhere high where you can hear good, and let them tell you where they are.

Good luck.
