Shells

Ive killed turkeys with 2.75 #4s years ago..
I dont handicap myself with using that large of shot anymore tho.
#6s will kill one just as dead and will increase your chances of actually hitting the target since you have more pellets in the load.

I would go with #6 or 7 hevi.pattern will be way better.

i tested some on paper Saturday. Even at just 25 yards, it SUCKED!

winchester double X copper buffered turkey 2-3/4" #4

I only had 11 pellets in the kill zone. Maybe some folks are comfortable with that.

It looked like it had been fired from a modified choke, however my 835 Mossberg has a Tru-Glo .695

I will say, that at another 25 yard test, the Winchester Supremes (black box) 3" #5 was great. With 41 pellets in the kill zone. Don't know if your gun will shoot 3" but those or #6 would be the ticket as far as I'm concerned. Short of spending "hevi shot" money on some shells.

I tested those double X (silver box) #4 loads on three attempts. All less than satisfactory results. just not what I expected for 25 yards.

save your #4 for squirrels, lol

but you'll never know for sure by asking other folks, you HAVE to shoot your gun on paper to see what works for you and also make sure you know exactly where your point of impact will be when that cloud of pellets hits your intended target.

it just might be your gun and not the shell since all shoot different,

I shoot a reload 1 3/8 nickle #4 buffered load, in a 30 inch circle I get a 95% shot count pattern, at 60 yards I am getting a 65% shot count pattern, nickle #3 will do even better but the GW seems to frown on this type of shell
