What a great hire.

I just wish he had been here last year. Oh well, we better enjoy him, because he will probably get some looks as a head coach.

One positive would be it seems the trend is hiring offensive coaches as head coaches here lately. The defensive guys haven't done so well.

Defense has played really well after the half so far all year. They continued that today pretty much shutting out florida holding them to 7pts after the half. they averaged less then 3.5 yards per rush attempt. Florida held to like 8 yards in the 3ed :tu: like three, 3 and outs in a row or something like that.

Barnett played well so did jumper & TKjr

3 of the top 5 defensive players for UT set out due to injury.

Vols really seem to turn it up in the 2ed half. 2ed time this year they have been down by 14+ and came back to win. Last year they would be up at half and do nothing the rest of game.

Oline looked alright finally.... I thought that florida D I heard so much about would sack Dobbs all night.... he was sacked what once??? Got his arm hit while throwing which gave teez a easy pick, but thats about it pressure wise. heck the bobcat & App st.gave the Vols more problems.

:tu:
What did DE Derek Barnett think of the trash talk from the Gators this week? "I think they worried about talking too much and [weren't] focused on playing football. It showed in the end." Barnett said Florida's second-half body language "was bad" and S Todd Kelly Jr. said he felt they had taken control once they got that early stop on the third quarter. "It looked like we took their soul, really."

Tennessee totally dominated Florida in the second half. Vols out-gained Florida 336-102. Joshua Dobbs started 1 of 8 but threw for a career-high 319 yards with four touchdowns. He had five total touchdowns in the second half. Florida's top-ranked defense surrendered 6.3 yards per play today in Knoxville.

If we could just get off to a better start on both sides of the ball I'd feel much better about this team. Gotta give it to them though...they torched the gators in the second half.

With all of the injuries, he had to see which backups could perform when the bullets started flying.

It seems to me that Shoop kinda feels them out in the first half and makes the adjustments needed and shuts em down in the 2nd half. Just wish he would do it just a bit sooner tho.

Jumper finally had a good game. That guy has worried me all year. I was shocked Florida didn't throw the deep ball more in the second half.

UF started out very conservative the second half and helped UT find ole MOE.

Yup, same thing people really hated on CBJ for doing last season, Florida's coaches did just that last night.

Tennessee put UF in poor field position most of the 2d half.....I think this contributed to the Florida coaches being overly cautious that close to their own goaline.

INo doubt and UF didn't fair much better the first half with field position. Besides the bombs, UF didn't do a good job on flipping the field.

Shoop has said he has to get a feel for the game before he gets in play calling mode and making adjustments. It shows by our performance. Once he figures out an offense, he is very good at shutting them down. I hope he can start to get a feel a little earlier in the game, but it's hard to complain with the way this defense is playing in the second half. I haven't seen any stats on second half defensive numbers for the year...but I bet they look pretty good.

It is nice to see some in game/half time adjustments and see the Vols actually close out a game rather than the fourth quarter debacles from last year. But, if they keep putting themselves in a hole in the first half like they have done so far, it will come back to bite them.

Vols have out scored opponents 87 to 24 after the half I would say that is pretty dang good.

That includes the give me TD they gave VAtech in garage time after they clearly had the game won. And the TD they gave up to UF after they Went UP 17 it was not a give me, but they clearly backed off, and played the not gonna give up the big play game. let UF have all they wanted underneath to waste clock....

Big 3 game stretch for the Vols. UGA is the key. They must win. If so, they are in the drivers seat in the East even if they lose to TAM on the road and Bama at home. After that it's SCar, Vandy, KY, Mizzou and whatever team is this year's featured third Saturday in November cupcake game. Vols win the East and at least a 10 game regular season by beating UGA next weekend. And, don't forget, under Sumlin TAM is 17-1 in August and September, but 9-12 for October and November.

If UF runs the table in the Sec from here on out and TN loses to those two, UF would represent the East. Doesn't mean their in the drivers seat if they lose two since UF would have one sec loss.

Yes, my assumption is UF loses at least one of their games vs SEC West or to UGA.

Still lots of football to play but if the Vols beat UGA, they will be in the catbird's seat with the tiebreaker over UF.

Vols just need to worry about beating Georgia... They win that game they probably go undefeated in the east
..... They get there bye week after the bama game to finally rest after a hard 4 week stretch then they should finish the year strong...

Florida still has a few good SEC match ups left.. Georgia, Arkansas on the road is always a hard game.... anything can happen still lots of games left... UF got lucky LSU sucks... Vols would gladly trade A&M & bama for LSU & Arkansas lol..

But no joke still 8 games to go anything can happen...

I don't know LSU is trash this year who just lost the coach....

Georgia in Jacksonville Del Rio should be back advantage has to go to UF, but anything can happen....

Arkansas on the road will be a good game...

They get vandy at home Saturday that should be a beat down... but who knows
