I shot a Tom out of my tree stand during deer bow season in the fall. I walked by it the other day and got me wondering if any one does it on purpose during turkey season , lol

Never done it but I'm sure its intentionally been done. Several years back I tried to draw back on a longbeard during archery deer season and he busted me. Then on more than one ocassion I've basically been doing jumping jacks trying to run them off and they paid no attention. Go figure.

Tried it once, got busted immediately. I've got no issues with it personally, as long as the bird isn't on the roost or you don't use decoys ;)

I got busted once by hens and poults while I was up in a tree. Then other times they don't seem to notice. They will see you in a tree quicker than a deer though, that's for sure.

I will on occasion sit in a tree stand, both are fully enclosed blinds. The locations allow me to see both sides of a hill over a small stream to an edge of a field. Birds tend to look up more then deer, so you can get busted easily in one that is open. IMO no difference then hunting deer from one. Cant do it once the leaves start popping, no visibility. Sometimes a birds eye view can be beneficial, allow you to see which side of the hill they are working. One thing for sure, if you can sit in a open blind (still enough) without getting busted by a flock of birds will make you a better deer hunter.

A few years ago one of the guides for the Tennessee one shot turkey hunt, hunted on my farm.. they killed either the biggest or second biggest tom that was brought in... they hunted out of my shooting house.. its about 12 feet off the ground..
