No I didn't skip Church.
My daughter was sick and my wife decided it was her turn to stay home with her. So what I did was to pack up my Church clothes in the car and just hunt until I needed to get there.
I got to the field what I thought was plenty early, but I could already see! I'm going to get up half an hour earlier the next time so it is totally dark!
I'm pretty sure a gobbler saw me as he started gobbling just across the creek. In fact he gobbled for almost two hours but never showed himself.
Instead I watched two hens land in my decoy set and fight for awhile. At least that was interesting. I managed to film them because I figured the gobbler would eventually enter the picture, but that didn't happen.
So it was an uneventful morning. I've somehow managed to loose the "striker" from my friction calls. I did glass the surrounding fields but never saw another bird. Of course one ran across the road as I was leaving.
There were some horses in the pasture. I figured they were escapees. As I was going down the valley I checked in with one of the farmers and he says they are rescued horses. Right now they are roaming through my hunting grounds. They get curious and come up to the blinds or my truck sometimes.

As I was leaving, I crossed the creek road. Sure enough there were a bunch of gobblers out in the field! I'm going to have to figure out how to cross that creek. What I may do is take my tent and just sleep over there one night and hunt the next day. Wading that creek in the dark isn't in my skill set. :/
Today I went out and spent some $$$. I got a couple new mouth calls, three new strikers in a Primos pack, a Primos Killer B gobbler decoy, a new camo chair that they had on close out, and finally a ramrod assortment pack for my new to me muzzleloader. Maybe I can get those patches out of the barrel.
