ok dont laugh at me...i read radars post on last minute preperation and i agree... i have been practicing for a couple of months and i feel really good about my shot out to 40yrd (havent tried any further) and i have listened to all yall's advice and read about everything i can on bowhunting... is there any other advice you could offer for my first bowhunt as far as shot placement (i figure ill "bah" at em and stop em) and blood trailing (ive followed trails w/ gun,but maybe its different w/ a bow?) thanks for your help and advice

Make sure your are drawn when you stop them... They will probably not stay there while you draw.

If the deer is aware that something is just not right, hold a little low. The first sound that they hear, they are going to drop.

If the animal is relaxed and just casually browsing around, put the pin where you want it and squeeze the trigger.

Before you get out of your stand, make sure that you know exactly where the deer was standing when you shot it. In all of the excitement, I have forgotten where that spot was and spent the better part of 30 min. trying to find my arrow after a pass-thru.

#1} HAVE FUN
#2} BE PATIENT
#3} WAIT FOR THE SHOOT - BROADSIDE OR QUARTERING AWAY
#4} TAKE A DEEP BREATE AND GO GET YOUR DEER
#5} CANT BE SAID ENOUGH- WEAR YOUR SAFTEY HARNESSES

Wear your safety harness is first just like PH said...have fun and don't worry...you'll do just fine. Take some unscented bug repellent or a thermacell, might make it a little more pleasant.

Don't make a noise to stop them unless you have to. If you have more openings, be patient. Making a noise will cause the deer to stop, but to also look in your direction. There will be less reaction to the shot if the deer has it's head down feeding. It's thinking about something else. Try to play the wind! Have fun and be safe.

Shoot for where you want the arrow to exit!
Great advice!!

Once you decide to take the animal, go through your routine that you take when shooting at a target. I myself gotten so caught up in the situation that I completely forgot to look through the peep sight. I caught my mistake just before I let the arrow fly.

Adrenaline can make you do some crazy things... I promise if you have never been in that situation before you will have a good dose of it flowing through your veins. It still gets me when they are on top of me and I have a bow in my hand.

You will make some mistakes at some point in your bowhunting career, I do not care who you are. Don't beat yourself up, just learn from them and all will be fine.

Agree with all the posts.
Don't make it to be a bigger deal then it is.
Just shoot and think to yourself, if I miss, it's no big deal. Many more days of hunting left.

Take deep breaths to control your breathing , focus on the vitals and picking an opening for the shot . Wait for the right angle and time your draw when the deer is at that angle and not looking in your direction . Pick a spot and take your time .
If the deer is alert , aim lower . After the shot take a compass reading where you saw the deer last . Wait 30 minutes , check for your arrow or blood sign at the spot where the deer was standing .
Analyze the blood . If there is no blood , go back to the tree and take your compass bearing to the spot where you saw the deer last .
When in doubt , back out , get help and come back later .

Lots of good advice. Go back to The Games post called 'Doe got Slick Tricked'. Look at the last photo. That is where you want the arrow to exit. Every time. Try to imagine where that armpit is on the other side of the deer and shoot at it. You will rarely have a problem when you can make your arrow exit there.
