I am new to the forum in that I have never posted before so I am sorry if someone else has already asked.

I have an old mec jr reloader and I am wanting to get into slug reloading to avoid having to pay $2 to $3 a slug. From what I have found, it sounds really easy. My only problem is finding a good source of cheap slugs. I found the following website http://gardnerscache.com/index.html but they always seem to be backed up and they won't let you order. I have also been out to Ballistis Products Inc and they have a pretty good selection but their prices aren't nearly as good as Gardner's Cache. Also, Lightfield sells slugs as well but they are pricey. I think they are like $19 for 25 where as Ballistic has dangerous game for $13 for 25 and Garner's has Lyman 525 gr for $30 for 100. I am trying to keep the cost as cheap as possible with the best accuracy. The Lymans are .30 a piece at Gardner's and I have heard really good things about them as far as accuracy out to 100 yards. I am not interested in making 1900 fps slugs, just something in the 1500 fps range. I have a hastings paradox barrel on my 870 and from what I understand, you really need a barrel with a tighter twist to really get any accuracy out of the faster slugs. Anyhow thats another topic.

Just trying to find out if there are any slug reloaders out here and if so, where do you get your components as well as any advice?

Welcome to the site, I am new to the reloading business myself, so I can't be of much help with advice. But for supplies if you haven't already I would check the reloaders bench in Mt. Juliet. I just found out about them a couple weeks ago and they have quite a bit of inventory and may be able to help you out.

Thanks. I used to reload years ago, both shotgun and rifle/pistol cartridge. I still have all my stuff tucked away in the attic. I don't really have room to do it, but I am going to cut out a small corner and try to get started again.

I had been to the Reloaders Bench a few years back. I completely forgot about them. I will have to check them out. I had them make some light 300 win mag loads for me a while back and when I called them back to get them to make more, they denied they ever did it. Apparently, they did not have a license to do it. Sucks too. I really could use some more of those rounds.

Does anyone around here (Nashville Area) pour their own lead? If I can't find any slugs, I was wondering if I could get someone to do it for me if I got the mold. Maybe, we could work out a deal for the mold or money or whatever.

Welcome to the nut house.

Sorry. I know of a place that might be of help to you,but dang it I can't remember the name of the place nor can I locate the last catalog they sent me. It will come to me though.

The place dealt with mostaly Shotgun Reloading, and such and was out of the Northeast.(Mass.?) if anyone else can recall them.
