Hey Guys, new to the form but not reloading been doing that for over 45 years. Got to playing with some 65 gr Sierra SBT H4895 powder in a 223 1-8 twist Tikka. Shot 5 coyotes with it and really impressed with its performance. These was all shot in front of my shop in about a three week period out of a large field they cross. They was all shot around 250yds. Anyone else tried these bullets

I haven't, but thanks for the info on them tho, and welcome to the site! What size groupings are you getting with that recipe btw?

It's an honest 3 shot 3/4" rifle at 100yds that's overall group not center to center I have a 300yd range behind my shop. I really like these Tikka rifles, all that has been shot here seem to be very good shooting rifles. love the trigger on the Tikka also, you can change the trigger spring and have a pound or less trigger if you desire.

Great shooting! I loaded Sierra 65 grain SBT's with Benchmark powder to reach a velocity of 2850 fps. My 1/8" twist AR fired a 3-round test group with all three rounds touching at 100 yards. I used this load to shoot two does that were within 100 yards. I lost both deer who ran away leaving no blood trail. I found them several days later with buzzards circling over them. I may could have shot them somewhere other than the ribs / lungs area for better results. For me, this load is now limited to coyotes and other predators.

Never tried the Benchmark behind the 65 Sierra. Had good luck with Benchmark and 50 grain Nosler B.Tip. After seeing that group I will give it a try.

I was using a 24 inch CZ and blc2 at just over 3200 fps

I shot a few hogs in Texas with the 65gr game kings over a case full of varget. The results made me question why we shoot deer with much more powerful cartridges.
