OK guys I'll admitt it I have judging yardage syndrome and was wondering if a pendulum sight is gonna solve my problems? I know its not gonna be a fix all just wanting opinions and advice. Thanks

Yes practice practice practice I'm a few months behind on that we got loaded with ot this summer. I have considered getting the vendetta to mount on my bow just dont know right yet

I agree with UTG, ;) , practice with a range finder is the best thing. Also get a range finder and range and become familiar with everything and its yardage as soon as you get into the tree. That being said though, pendulum sights do work but they do have limitations. You will be restricted to how far you can shoot on level ground, you have to be at least 15'+ in the tree to achieve the best accuracy and its accuracy starts to fade at yardages 30-35+ yards (most people's limitations for hunting deer anyway).

There are several tricks to improving judging distancespracticing shooting unknown distance will help greatly and also will judging everything, everywhere. I judge distance in the yard, the grocery store, at church, etc... Get very, very familiar with something at 10 yards. Then pick an object that is further than thatlet's say...25 yards. Find your 10 yard mark and then imagine another 10 yards. Now that you have 20 yards look at the ground in one yard increments until you have your estimation of that 5yds. Now let's say something is 37yds. I find my 10, then my 20 and then I know that the target is almost double what my 20 was, but not quite. so then I estimate how far back from that 20yds mark would be 20yds from the target and that let's me know how much to take off from 40yds. This is where shooting unknown classes in 3D archery helps you learn how to judge, but it takes practice to get really good at how to figure it.

A 3d shoot would be fun. going to gander my today to look and weigh the options I have 3 examples of mis judging 3 years ago shot over a does back aimed for forty marked it off once on the ground it was 34. One year ago shot at a spike 30 yards shot over his back he was in between twenty and twenty five yards. Finally last day of turkey season had a bird come out and I didn't take the shot I was guessing bout 50 yards well my dad come an got me and with a range finder it was 33 yards. I have got horrible depth perception

Thanks for the advice fellas!

Pendulums work great but the bow must be set up correct, I have shot pendulums since I started bow hunting and can't think of one single reason I would use anything else.......given my bows have always been very fast so I have always been able to shoot to 40 yds with one pin.......shooting on the ground vs a tree are slightly different but still in the kill zone.......I still carry a range finder to pick my 40 yd limits.....anything under 40 I just aim and shoot.......no thinking about how far it is.....just how far will that deer go once I drill it in the boiler room

I shoot a very light arrow and pull over 70lbs and have chrono'd 320 fps , I still shoot a Hoyt Hypertech that is 10 years old
