Silence.

They were gobbling good last night. Had several responding to my calls. Stay positive.

Also just saw two strutting by the house.

Certain gobblers will typically reduce their gobbling frequency as the season progresses, even though they are not "done".

I suspect they may figure out that frequent gobbling becomes a liability, when so often it attracts humans and other predators like coyotes and bobcats. Also, those that gobble most are the ones more likely to get killed by a predator, i.e. there are fewer surviving gobblers that like to gobble a few weeks into the season.

Finally, gobbling begats more gobbling. How many times have you not heard a gobble all morning, then when one gobbles, you hear others respond back with a gobble? But as the season progresses, there are fewer living birds, and those survivors gobble less, all of which contribute to more "silence" in the turkey woods. Ironically, sometimes the gobbling increases late in the season, following weeks of very little.

Done
Have been for two weeks

Not.... had 8 gobblin Thursday, 3 have died of those 8 since Thursday and 1 more on a WMA between me, my buddy and my brother. Seen two strutters today as well

I still have strutters here. I was out the other morning and heard birds gobble all over two days later hardly a sound but I still thumped my third one when 2 came running to a jake decoy.

Always got to laugh at the "their done" crowd. Typical of so many who don't know any better.

I ended up seeing some, but they saw me first. Actually right after making this post my fourwheeler died 3 miles back in the woods. While working my way back to tow it out I ran up on them. None of em would talk to me though and I didn't have my gun in my hand so there was nothing I could do.

Let us know how many you actually call in this last week...:)!!!
You just stick to fishin and leave the calling of late season longbeards to the gun to us turkey "killers" Got at least 4 more hard gobbling longbeards left on the mountain that need killin ;)

I've heard the best gobbling of the season just this past Friday. I know for a fact there were at least 12 birds and possiblly more. As a matter of fact it was probably the most gobbling I have ever heard in a single day. Buddy went this morning and said they were tearing it up after fly down. At a place I was working last year had 2 gobblers strutting with 5 hens one morning, that was the second week of June.

I'll wait for your last week update "killer" while I am wondering why such a "killer" still has tags left after 5th week of season. Good luck, bro!!
