Silver stuff in bream ?

Kept a few decent bream and when i was pulling the guts out noticed some real shiny silver stuff. At first thought it was shiny lead. Ive never noticed that before. What is it ?
It may not even be possible, but that description sounds like mercury.

There is a lot of small fry in the water right now. The bluegill have been vacuuming it up when I've been night fishing. I'd say that's a definite possibility.

Internally inside the gut I would think scales of minnows as well…

If in the body cavity adhered too the rib cage area I don't see how scales could get outside the intestines.

I experienced this several times in fish from Wilson & Pickwick lakes…

I always thought it was Mercury… maybe not, but I've stopped eating the belly portions of the fish I catch.. for the last 20+ years..

Usually a water hose and scraping with your knife or thumb nail will remove it, but it takes a little work…

If it's Mercury what I'm doing probably doesn't help anyway….
But, We're all not going too get out of this world alive anyway….

I think I've seen what your talking about. Silver shiny stuff above all the entrails and kind of in a air pocket against the ribs…….no idea what it is.

I've cleaned thousands of panfish and I reckon it's in every one I've ever done. I don't clean enough bass or even catfish to see if it's in there or noticed.
