I feel like I got to move around sometimes after getting uncomfortable sitting against a tree for a while. On sunday I sat against a small tree for maybe 3 hours, and keeping a heavy gun on the knee gets tiresome too. I am only 18 so it's not like I have problems from age or anything, although I do have mild scoliosis. Nothing too bad but it does hurt my lower back after sitting in a funny position for a long time.

Also a sore butt gets tiresome quick from sitting on hard dirt :D those turkey vests with the seat pads are looking more friendly now, but I told myself I don't need a turkey vest.

Why wouldnt you want a turkey vest? Good places to keep all your stuff your decoys snacks drinks calls and a comfy seat cushion

yup maybe I will invest in one sometime. I like to start simple though, right now I keep everything in cargo pockets and a mouth call and tube call in my shirt pocket.

I will just carry a pillow and blankets and a gun rest with me into the field :D

Actually the gun rest wouldn't be a bad idea. The shooting stick I saw at walmart is too expensive, I will just cut a piece of bamboo and camo it up.

Check out the Bucklick Creek Turkey Lounger. Has a self supporting seat so you can set up with a comfortable backrest anywhere. No tree needed. I love mine.

I've got one that I have had for about 7 years. I love it and have toted a lot of turkeys over the shoulder of it.

If i know I'll be stationary for a few hours I'll wear the vest and seat pad, but if I'm moving from one side of a farm to the other I don't like the bulkiness and noise.

With everyone else on the cushion (seat) from the vest but I also use a little seat that has legs that will fold down and you can adjust the height of each leg. I generally make the front legs taller so it is angled back toward the tree, seems to really help with the butt going numb and lower back and I have a broken back with two titanium rods in my back !! I also picked up one of those cheap monopod shooting sticks form wally world, they are retractable from like 21" to 42". They have two holes on each side and I took a hack saw and notched one hole, take a heavy rubber band, loop through the hole that is not notched, lay your gun in it run rubber band under rib and hook over notched hole !! No more resting gun on knee and it actually holds the gun in position with the stock rested to your side !! Great for kids that have trouble steadying a shotgun !!

I do something similar. I have used the H.S. Strut gun rest but found it to be a little heavy plus a piece broke. I actually like using the monopod between the forend and the trigger. This allows me to swing from side to side much easier and with less movement.
