yes, it is slow around here. :)
any one doing any shooting?
I had hoped to have been bowfishing by now but I've been too busy with my wife. we found out she had cancer. 'had' is hopefully the key word here. she had surgery last week and the doc believes he got it all. so now after her recovery maybe I can get back to shooting and bowfishing.

Have been shooting my longbow a few times a week. Got a ball target. It's really fun. My son and I take turns kicking it while the other one shoots. I will add your family to my prayer list.

Havent touched mine ina while, found it had a slight twist in one of the limbs a while back, should twist back into place with a little work, need to be get'n on it befor it gets hot out.

Glad to hear the wife is do'n better, keep us posted.

Been shooting 1-2 times a day trying to tune a 55# Warf bow I put together last year. I think she's about ready to hunt. Next project this summer is an old 44# Groves that I plan to hunt with my ghillie suit that I've just about got finished. Cant wait for some of that action.

I have been building a few selfbows lately after taking a break from it for a while. Used to build dozens a year and it consumed me. Need to shoot more though. Like a friend used to say, " too much scraping and not enough shooting." Trying to shoot a few dozen arrows a day.

Hey Eddie C, yes I made it to Twin Oaks this spring. I grew up not far from there and Pappy and I used to shoot together quite a bit. We started building self bows about the same time. Twin Oaks puts on the best shoot anywhere in my opinion.

Good deal. I been trying to go to one of their shoots for a couple of years now but it hasn't worked out. Trying to work something out for next weekend's shoot.

What exactly do they do at Twin Oaks ?? I'm guess'n its a trad shoot but think'n they mite teach some build'n skills as well, would love to make the trip & find out.

Hey Fox Fire, Twin Oaks is a really neat club that has always had a big traditional following, but in the last fifteen years or so has really grown in it's self bow/primitive following. Their big spring shoot, the "Classic", has a self bow challenge whereby you bring a floor tillered selfbow (or you can start on one from scratch when you get there) and finish it out and shoot it that weekend in the tournament for score. They are a good bunch of guys and very helpful. They are usually at the club most weekends and receive visitors. I'll look up their contact info and post it a little later. I'd recommend the trip to anyone.

here is their website. once a year they have jamboree type shoot and help people learn how to make selfbows. this weekend they are having a charity shoot that is open to compounds as well as trad bows.

looks like Lost was posting as I was typing.

I was going to go to the Classic this year but with my wife's cancer issue we didn't make the trip.

thanks.

we made the KY tradfest and used our new/used pop up camper without much problem but we were going to need a generator for the Classic. she enjoys camping so we hope to make more of these type trips next year.

Hey guys there is a shoot at twin oaks this coming weekend it is a open shoot but as always there will be a large number of trad shooters there.

Its is a charity shoot for wounded vet hunts and kids that have lost a parent to the war good cause.

there are always a few who come on Friday evening and camp the night to get the most out of the twin oaks experience that they can.

Hope to see you there

Grant, I wasnt sure if they were going to do the camping routine for this sboot or not. I could more than likely make it if they were. Never got a clear answer.

Btw, welcome to the site.

they don't advertise it but any one who wants to camp is welcome especially anyone with a long drive.
let me know if you can make it I will plan cooking Friday night.

thanks for the welcome I have been on here for some years but rarely post I use to go by CastIron but I could not log on today but I found a later reg from when I worked in Nashville and changed the e-mail address so all is good.

Sounds like a good time to be had, have a guy at work who mite get a kick out of it also, wont be able to make it this weekend tho.
