Smallmouth on the Prowl

When water temperatures cool off the Tennessee River smallmouth bass fire up. The last week or two has been excellent.

However my business slows down a lot this time of year. Folks are hunting and many are just not interested in getting on the water when it's colder. They don't know what they're missing.

I got to go "fun fishing" with friends yesterday. It was a bit of a "Smallmouth Smackdown," along with a bonus monster largemouth and even some spotted bass for a TN River Grand Slam. Here's some video:

It's a tough call for me every year. Some of the best tailwater dam fishing is when some of the best deer hunting is! Great looking smallies! Wheeler dam is my favorite water.
