Smoke Leaving Gibbs!!!

He will be half owner. New team name will be Stewart-Haas. Office Depot will be primary sponsor and Old Spice will probably be involved. Smoke's car number will probably be 14.

Considering they are/will be getting engines and chassis from Hendrick, I don't see it as much more than a satellite Hendrick project.
 
Is Home Depot going with Stewart or staying at Gibbs.


Who is going to be in the 20 car next year?

I can second this! Hope the best for Smoke....
I just hope he can be competitive. I think there is still something from GM behind all of this.
I remember back when Gibbs announced they were going to Toyota...Smoke had some negative comments about it...then he was hushed up pretty fast. JGR racing actually tried to get Carl Edwards to drive the 20 car, but Roushe was able to hold on to Carl!
I wish Smoke would stay clear of Newman, and try to get Martin Truex.

I am curious since Zippy is staying behind... If Dave Rogers will go with Smoke?
I would imagine Joey will have a top tier ride for 09 with Zippy on deck behind him!
 
As a GM employee , I'm glad to see him back in a Chevy . I'm not sure joint ownership of a mediocre team is a good decision , but I wish him luck .
 
From what I understand,Tony was given 51% of the race team and didn't have to spend a dime.Tony brings dollars and credibility along with his name.Teresa should have done the same with JR.Now she'll prolly lose Truex and end up a crappy team.
