Who all wears snake boots turkey hunting? I'm wanting a pair but not sure what to buy. I don't want to spend top dollar. Got a budget to watch. :) Anyways, any input is greatly appreciated.

Been wearing Danner Pronghorn snake boots for years. They are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. They're not cheap but last much longer than the cheaper ones.

I used the rocky zip ups for last 2 seasons...I loved the fit and comfort but they were never waterproof like they said and now the sole is coming off. Time for new ones...

I wear lacross slip ons, no complaints here. I've been struck so I have to wear em lol

Rocky zip ups but there only good for about two seasons, but they feel like putting on a pair of running shoes.

Used to have rocky snake boots and they are not waterproof. Since then I've just used lacrosse alpha burly sports and now wear muck field blazers. Neither are snake boots but come up over your calf so hopefully I'm protected. You could also wear hiking boots with snake gaitors.

I won't go in the woods without them. I start my year in the deep south and frequently run across venomous snakes. I've had enough close calls over the years that not wearing them is insane and like driving without a seatbelt.

I've had them all, and best I can tell they all suck in their own special ways. I demand waterproof boots, and an aggressive sole since I hunt 99% of my time here on rugged steep terrain.

Rocky boots were comfy but leak after 2 weeks
Lacrosse miserable to wear but stay waterproof for about a month
Irish Setter junk not worth owning
Bass Pro see irish setter
Cabelas are okay stay waterproof a little longer but the soles are awful.
Danner Pronghorns are fair at best, but for the money they should be better. I could get them to last almost an entire season before they started leaking and the soles are solid.

I took the plunge last year and bought a pair of Russell boots. They are pricey, but so far so good. I got to choose my sole and other than one time in the snow they have done incredibly well. They didn't like the snow and my feet were wet, but how many times do we hunt turkeys in the snow?

It's a tough pill to swallow and cough up Russell $$$ for boots, but for me and what I put a pair of boots through I demand the best performance and durability from my footwear.

wow! ive got a pair off rocky snake boots that are atleast 8 maybe 9 years old and have never leaked and still look decent for the age and miles ive put on them

I have owned them all !!

Danners are still my back ups if My current boots are still wet from sweat the day before.

Rocky's boots never made it through a season for me owned two different styles !!

Irish Setter leaked the first day OUT !!

Lacrosse makes a great boot but they cut into my heel to bad and started to leak about four trips in...

Cabelas decent but the soles Are HORRID !!

I know have been wearing Russels for three years and they still don't leak !!I do sweat in them but they are by far the nost impressive boot on the market !! I had mine custom fit to me !!
If you can swing the cash well worth the investment !!

I don't wear them at all. but I may get a pair. had a close call last year. and a new farm I got permission to hunt the owner warned me of the snakes said he doesn't know why but they seem to be every where. but I have not found a pair I like I want all water proof like setterman. and so far the ones I know of the water proofing does not last at all may look into the russells though. but personally im not to worried about it. but I know it could happen but I have never ever found a pair I like. ill stick with mucks so im not walking around in wet socks til I find a pair then I may buy some.

Wishful thinking, but you're not.
You may be fairly well protected from an average sized copperhead, but they're the least of my serious concerns. You might as well be lining your calves with balloons if you encounter a big rattler.

I've had several pair, different brands. None last forever, most leak. But surprisingly, my favorites have been Irish Setters (although they may be a different version than what most complained about). The Irish Setter I'm using is actually a snake-proof 10" hiking boot with a built in snake gaiter (Irish Setter Mountain Claw Viper). I'm on my 2nd pair (and they're no longer made).

I do believe you get a better value with the more expensive offerings because they tend to last years longer and are more comfortable. Thought about the Russells but was concerned they might not be the best hikers. Cabela's has a new one out that looks interesting, but I'm hoping to get at least a couple more years from my 2nd pair of Setters. :)

But if I had to buy a new pair next week, I take the gamble on these:

They're a new style, but I believe Cabela's would take them back if they didn't measure up.

I bought a pair of cabela's brand last year when they were on sale. They are pretty comfortable and have kept my feet dry so far. As soon as I bought them, I soaked them down with a silicone waterproof spray. My only complaint is getting them off, it's a pain! My next pair will definitely be zip ups.

Got some up insulated Rockys for about $129-139 from BPS I love them I weAr them all through the season(deer & turkey)

I have 2 sets Rocky Low Country I use, 1 set is 8 years old very comfortable. Probably not a set out there that wont leak if you do a lot of walking imo. If water starts to seep in wash them down real good with the water hose (pressure) brush and rinse then let dry real good, buy KIWI camp dry at Wal Mart for 6.00 and put 3 light coats on them! Good as new for a while depending on how much you walk. I hunt river bottoms a lot and go across a lot of slaughs to get to birds so hip waders are my thing about 75% of the time unless I get on a bird that Im working on high ground and takes few days to kill then I just wear my Rockies. But to be honest I see very few poisonous snakes.
