Gonna have to buy new pair of boots for turkey season. Comfort, waterproof, and affordability are definite keys for me, any suggestions?

I got a pair of Irish setters last year and really liked them. I've been through all of them from Russell's to crap Rocky's and the setters were decent

Do you hunt an area where you encounter a lot of snakes in turkey season?

I have only encountered snakes of any kind 2-3 times in my 30+ years of hunting.

Danner Pronghorn snake boot. I'm on my 3rd year and they are well worth the money (expensive). No break in time, wore my out of the box the first day. Very comfortable, very rugged, and 100% waterproof.

Having worn several different brands, the one I currently like best are the Irish Setters.

I believe some others are also very good, but often not available in my size (need a EE or EEE width).

I wore these last season as well and like them. Very lightweight and appears to be well made.

I usually see at least one cottonmouth down south, but here is where I see quite a few. I usually see 4-6 rattlesnakes or copperheads each season around east tn. If I'm seeing through many there's probably 3x that number I step over or on and never know exist.

I won't go in the woods during turkey season without snake boots. It's too easy to use them and have some peace of mind IMO

Lots of creeks, sloughs, and soggy low-lying areas on my place...cottonmouths everywhere.

Go try on some Irish Setters and they'll become your "go-to" boot.
I've experimented over the years with many makes & varieties of snake boots, hiking boots, rubber boots, etc.
The Irish Setter snake boots have the comfort and support of some high-end leather hiking boots.
They are great for general scouting, period, even if you're not concerned about snakes.

Just make sure you get a good fit (and you have a little adjustment by using or not using a liner sock and/or thicker or thinner socks).
Unlike some of the other snake boots, the Irish Setters are available in half sizes as well as D and E widths.

X2. I've seen too many copperheads and rattlesnakes in my area to leave home without snake boots. I've worn normal boots before, but find myself looking EVERYWHERE I step. Takes me about an hour to walk 100 yards...not efficient when chasing longbeards :D

I've encountered a few king snakes and racers that didn't bother me. I did almost step on a copperhead once and walked near a cottonmouth that was coiled up showing off how wide he could open his mouth. I just wear Lacrosse Grange rubber boots. I don't worry about snakes too much.
