How many use them?
I have used them for ever i guess. Was thinking about changing but just as soon as i do I would probably need them. dunno


Just seen a pair of boots thought about trying but they ain't snake proof.
 
I wear snake boots when I am at LBL simply for peace of mind.
Never really needed them, yet. :D
Since they are no longer water proof I usually wear my go-to boots.
Bad part about that is I discovered today that my Lacrosse Burly's are now dead. Got a hole in the top of the foot.
Guess I am in the market for a new pair of boots.
 
Danner Pronghorn Snakeboots. There is no way I would step into these mtns without them on during turkey season. We are covered up with rattlesnakes and copperheads.
 
I also use the Redhead sidezipper snake boots. I owned another quality pair of snake boots, but they laced up (no zipper). It seems like it was taking me 15 minutes to get those boots on. I'd rather spend that time hunting. Make sure whatever you get that you can get into them quickly. If they have laces only (with no zipper) you might want to re-think them.
 
I would love to be able to wear ones without laces, but wearing slip on type boots where I hunt is asking for trouble. In Miss, I do sometimes where a pair of pull on snake boots, but most of the time there I just wear a pair of Lacrosse Alpha Burly. Snakes are 10x worse here then they are back home.
 
I routinely wear snake boots from late March until late October for most of my time afield. However, I don't deer hunt in them in October (or later) unless it's seasonably warm.

Have gone thru several makes.
Like the convenience of zip-ups, but the lace-ups are usually more comfortable, and generally speaking, the ones that cost more last longer and with more comfort.

Most comfortable I've tried is the Irish Setter lace-up, which is also the lightest weight pair I've had. I'll be wearing the Irish Setters for turkey hunting, while reserving a pair of Cabela's Pinnacle zip-ups that are only worn for deer hunting. When wear out the Setters, may have to try those Danners.
 
I have had some issues with the Danner's, I am on my 3rd pair inside a year. The first pair leaked after 2 weeks, got a new pair which lasted me the remainder of last turkey season. Wore them for a couple of weeks grouse hunting this year, during the monsoons to cross creeks without getting wet. They started leaking and are now replaced with a new pair, which will get one last chance during turkey season.

I love the boots, they are comfortable, and the traction is superior. However, they just cannot hold up as of now to the riggors of mtn hunting, or maybe I have just been unlucky.

If this 3rd pair fails, I am going to spend the money and get a pair of Russell Snake boots, it is a ton to spend on boots, but I am tired of having wet feet.
