Killed a nice bird on Easter Sunday with a 9.25 in beard and 1.25 spurs. He left a group of 3 longbeards and several hens and came strait to me.
Shot another bird two days later 9 in beard 1 in spurs. Set up within 150 yds from him on the roost. He pitched off and came strait to me.
Thats the only two times this entire season I've been by myself.
I've spent the last week and a half chasing birds left and right with buddies of mine. Seems as if every time I get on a bird, he will hammer a few times at me, then shut up. Not all of these birds are with hens either. Granted, lots of them are on public land as well, which I'm sure they're already call shy. Had several birds come a long way and hang up at 60 or 70 steps just strutting and gobbling. Right now, they are gobbling pretty good for me, but just not coming all the way in. How are the birds working for you guys at the moment?
