After a 4 day lake trip camping, hunting and fishing, missing a gobbler at 10 yards, filling a cooler with catfish fillets, getting rained on, and losing 2 big carp, I pulled into the driveway around 5:15 pm and saw a big tom way across the field.
Didn't even unhook the boat, just parked and got my camo and gun and camera. Ran off through the back field and into the cedar thicket to get to where I needed to be.
First I was behind some bushes in the field edge and called him in, but didn't get a shot. He never gobbled, just came looking and half strutting. He then started wandering to the right, so I had the chance to reposition. Got into another clump of bushes. He was quartering to me and then a hen appeared. But she led him right past my opening and I dropped him when his head went up. Video isn't worth a crap cause my tripod was hung in the bushes so I had to hold the camera and the gun, and was more worried about getting a clean shot.
Haven't measured yet but a good 2 year old. Finally got #2 on the ground. I'll take it
