We just got back last night from Smith Lake in Alabama. We went down there for the BassCat Owners Invitational tournament.
It's a spotted bass lake, and it's something I wasn't used to. Very deep lake. 270ft at the deepest.
We got there the day before the tournament and only had about 5 hours to practice. Other than that, we had never seen the lake.
It seems most of the top finishers caught them shallow. We fished shallow plenty, but couldn't catch a keeper (15").
We caught 12 in two days of the tournament. The biggest one was 14 7/8". Ouch.
Tournament was 2 days.
There were 226 teams.
53 teams didn't catch a keeper.
About 45 teams only caught one.
Only took 14 pounds to be in the top 25.
Winner had 26.25.
