All I can say is WOW! I went over to my buddies house and we set it up and paper tuned it. He used to shoot alot of 3d tournaments and knows his way around a bow so I wanted him to shoot it and give me some feedback from an unbiased source since he didnt have any money in it and has shot/owned alot of different bows from different companies. We had his 2010 Hoyt Maxxis 31 out there to compare the two.
The draw is very smooth all the way back to the wall which is rock hard. The bow holds very steady and the grip is awesome it has a very wide shelf with plenty of room for the ripcord code red. Where the bow really shines is upon release of the arrow. It is absolutely dead in your hand no vibration at all that I could notice. Best of all this bow is whisper quiet and I mean like a church mouse. Standing 15 yards away he couldnt hear the bow just the arrow zipping down rang at a very high rate of speed. He said that is was the most quiet bow he had ever seen.
The only way that you would know this is a 6 inch brace bow is by reading the specs. I shot two groups from 60 yards just for fun and both were under 4 inches with 3 arrows. Fro 10-40 yards it was effortless to stack arrows. Dont let the brace hight scare you, it had no effect on either of us. This bow is a definite shooter.
For the bow on bow comparison, it was an obvious pick for top dog. Both of us had the same feelings about it. The Maxxis is a heck of a nice bow and had no bad characteristics that I could find. That being said it took a whoopin today, everything it did well the Strother did a little better and was much quieter.
Thats what we thought about it. Go try one you wont be dissapointed. I think that a die hard Hoyt guy will be getting a different brand next year.
