Stoeger 2000 shotgun

Needing a new turkey gun. Don't mind paying for a high dollar rifle, but I am not a scattergun man, so I don't want to pay an arm and leg for a shotgun. Like the looks and dimensions of this gun.Think it is made by benelli. Anyone know anything about these.
 
Mine had crooked chokes and wouldnt shoot straight till I sent it back to the factory to get it fixed. That was a problem on alot of them. The have a mean muzzle jump that kills your cheek and they are an auto version of the mossy 835 as far as kick goes because they are so light and the recoil system they use abosorbs no recoil. Pick up one of those and a benelli and work the action, there is nothing to the 2000 action.

I guess it really depends what you intend on hunting? I'm like you, I'm not really a scatter gun man myself. I used an 870 for years to turkey hunt with, til I pulled out my old single shot that is a fraction of the weight. The barrel is set to full choke and it shoots 3" shells. I've killed a lot of turkeys with it. The gun holds an excellent pattern.
 
got one a few weeks ago. it came with both stocks and both 24 and 28" barrels in camo for 499 at basspro.

to this point I LOVE the gun. sweet shooting and super easy to clean. TO ME it is a fantastic gun for the price and is a perfect field gun to be rough and tough with..


also I have a buddy that has one he duck hunts with and loves his as well.

it is the SAME action as the benelli.....also i assure you the kick is not the same as a 835 TO ME. I have shot and 835 and own an 870 supermag, the kick on the 2000 is good but not nearly as bad as those. You can get a SIMS recoil pad for the 2000 for 35$ and it makes a HUGE difference.

I also do not see much of the muzzle jump, i mean if i am shooting the 3" mags it has a jump just as most guns do but i dont see it as very bad. I am not a huge dude at only 6'3 180lbs but i love the gun personally

I know it is the same action as benelli same inertia system as well. The bolt is lighter and sloppier and the stoeger. Im 5'11" and 200 punds and I can shoot 3 1/2" all day long out of my 870 and not worry about a thing. I used to have a bruised cheek with that stoeger when I got through shooting.

Could be just the way it fit me but I hated the thing, only gun Ive ever been punished by.

The choke threads are aggravating because they are exposed out to the end of the barrel.

BTW, I cant stand the rotating bolt head on benellis.

It never did jam though and I shot it alot.


Im glad you like your 2000. If I buy another stoegy it'll be the p350 or the condor comp.

roger that, exactly it is a FORD vs CHEVY. For me i really like it and the recoil is much better then my 870 (still a good kick though)

i really like it at this point but I dont get your choke thread part. My stoegers threads look just like my 870 threads


you will find alot of reviews about this gun some bad some great. to me....for the money it is a fantastic auto shotgun and super easy to clean. the cleaning and feel was the reason i bought it over the 935 but either are winners in my opinion.
