I have a couple of buddies, who back in he 90's had a lease in Cherry Valley, Ark. their winter home there was an old tennant house, the drinking water was no good so we would consume large quantities of adult beverages, the place was warm and the "john" worked well, these guys kept extra duck hunting gear there in storage, guns, shells, motors, clothing, etc. anyways the tennant house was robbed one night, this was during duck season. There were not leads and no one was caught. The following summer one of the guys in the club received a phone call from an AT@T repair man, he stated that he had his duck call with "bands" attached in his possession, R. Downing asked the repair man where he had gotten the "call and bands from", the repair man stated that he had found the items on the side of the road next to a telephone juntion box. R Downing asked the repairman how he knew who to call. The repair man was also a duck hunter, he called the 1-800-band number and asked if the bands had been reported, he stated that he had found the "duck call and bands" and that he wanted to return them to the rightful owner. they gave the repair man the name of the owner of the articles in question, the repair man then contacted R. Downing and returned the call and bands to him.

R Downing wrote up basically the same story as above and sent it to DU and the story was printed in the DU Magazine

Good story, did they find any of the other gear that was stolen.....

the best that I remember, none of the other gear was recovered, the call and bands were over a mile away from the robbery site, R. Downing guessed that the robbers must have tossed the call and bands out the window onto the road side
