Strawberry Wine 2017

Haven't checked on it in a week or so, but I assume its about ready to be racked. I'll probably rack it next weekend.

What is the best way to separate the wine from the sediments on the bottom of the container? I have watched where the siphon the wine off with plastic tubing, but is there a better way? I usually pour the wine into gallon bottles until the sediment starts to move and pour out with the "clean wine". Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

I ended up with 25 bottles. I usually bottle one or 2 in clear bottles just to see the clarity and color, the rest are in dark green bottles. I'll let these age for about 6 months, but the samples I tasted while bottling were great. A little harsh, but that is expected with a young wine.

Ya might want to consult a calendar before you print the next batch of labels ;) :tu: looking good

Couple of questions. How do you determine it is time to bottle? Whats the best way to get labels off of a bottle?

Its ready to rack when the Final Gravity is below 1.0, vsually between 4 and 8 weeks, however it still may have some suspended sediment so I will rack it several times over the course of 6 months or so and stabilize it with Potassium Sorbate a couple of times so re-fermentation doesn't restart when sweetening.

The labels are just cheap Avery mailing labels, they come off easily when they get wet. They will actually fall off after an hour of soaking. Or, warm running water for a few seconds gets them off easily.
