I've noticed many of this year's bows are coming standard with one of the string stopper devices. For those of you that have used them, are they a gimmick or a good deal? Do they cut down on any noise or vibration in a noticeable way? I've considered purchasing one for my Drenalin, but have some questions that it is worth the money or extra weight.

Thanks!

I have an older 2005 Reflex Bow and it cut the string vibration almost in half on mine. They say it will cause wear on the string at the contact point. Would be a good idea to put a piece of shrink tube or serving on the contact spot.

Got one on a Omen, and thats the only dampner on it. They are worth the money and do the job. Serving it where the contact is made is a must.

scn - I have one on my Drenalin. I haven't tested it with a decibel meter, but my perceived noise is less when it's on the bow. It also stops the string in the same spot every shot, which helps when wearing heavy clothing.

Here's where I got mine...

It's three years old and has 1000s of shots on it.

Now that I know the difference they make, I will have one on every bow I own from now on. I use the Dead End String Stop from Mathews and it does a great job at reducing vibration, noise and forward string movement. What makes this is different from is the V-shaped bushing that the string falls into. Other than that there is not any real differences between brands, as they all do the same exact thing.

SCN I have the STS. I think they are a great accessory. I recommend one of your choosing. The String Tamer, STS and MeanV all work very well. You won't be disappointed.

Is one needed on the top and bottom? Or will just one work? I know my bow has a threaded hole on the top and bottom of the riser(as I'm sure most bows do).
