Didn't want to hijack Bottom Hunter's thread, but i was gonna replace my strings and cables this spring,Im on the original set that came on it,and the bow is 2 years old and I've shot it quite a bit, I just want new ones even if I don't need them..I don't want anything to happen during the season and put me out of commission. So with that said,is any string brand better or worse than the others? Which kind is best for hunting? I think im gonna try to get a colored string, just for the coolness.LOL Little help is appreciated.

Bucknasty, as Shane mentioned, makes good stuff. VaporTrails and America's Best are also good.

The best IMO are Winners Choice. Their warranty is great too. Some folks will say that they're overpriced.

Bucknasty hands down. He makes great strings, any color combo you want, out of what material you want and severed how you want. He will also serve for a string suppressor. Of the strings of his I have put on it takes little to nothing to get the bow in spec.

I wouldn't recommend a floating yoke. A static yoke allows for better tuning and the ability to control cam lean.

I don't even know what a floating or static yoke is..LOL Im still learning..I'll probably buy my string and cables and then have someone put it on for me..

The buss cable has a Y shape at the top of it, that's the yoke. If it is made of a short piece of cable that has a longer piece of cable over it then it's a floating yoke, meaning that it can settle in place. If the buss cable splits to form the Y and each piece connects to the limb it's static. You can twist either side to get the top cam/wheel straight at rest or full draw. Cam lean is when the top cam/wheel leans to one side or the other at full draw.

My Mathews bows tune best with a slight idler wheel lean at full draw to offset the rollerguard torque. The Hoyt tournament bows I shoot tune best with a straight top cam. The loose nut behind the string can't be helped or tuned :D

By looking at the pics that you provided,I do believe that my bow has a static yoke..I think i'll stick with that, since it is working good for me now..Will the shop that puts my string on take care of that?? Cause I know nothing about putting strings on and twisting the string and stuff..LOL

Another topic to each there own...

On my 3D Mathews Bow a Winnerschoice String.

On my hunting Mathews a Zebra Hybrid string.

Believe it or not I have had my string on my hunting bow for 6 years. I take it down after every hunting season and clean it and also re-serve it and re-twist it. It allows me to give it a good inspection...

The shop should install it for you. Usually, a shop will charge less if you order the string/cable through them than if you buy online and ask them to install it.

If you don't feel comfortable doing it by all means have the shop do it. However, if you want to save money in long run, have some fun and learn to do things yourself and not have to rely on a pro shop, I would say now is a good a time to start as any. Go ahead and buy you a portable press if you don't have one and do it yourself. Its really not hard. I don't know about other places but Bucknasty strings come twisted. I would say most others do too. All you have to do is put them on without untwisting them. Unpress the bow, then check you specs and maybe add a twist or something somewhere. If you live out in the country like I do, you could probably have it done in the time it would take to drive to a pro shop.

Or I should say that's really all you have to do about twisting anything. Of course, you have to install peep and nocking point and all that stuff. However, its still really no big deal.
