When I bought my 260 at the gun show, I went looking for reloading supplies. One of the guys at one of the booths was quite excited about the 260, and he highly recommended Accurate XMR4064 powder. He sold me a pound of it, and threw in the latest Accurate loading data. (My manuals at home are all older than 1996 and don't hav ethe 260 Rem in them.)

Anyway, after I got home and looked up the load, the Accurate manual didn't even list 4064 in it's loads for 260, even though it had it listed for its 7mm-08 loads.

The latest Hodgdon manual has IMR 4064 listed for the 260.

What would you do? Use the IMR 4064 numbers for the Accurate XMR 4064? (Starting with light loads and working up, of course.) Or see how other powders compare between the 260 and the 7mm-08 and reduce/change the 7mm-08 numbers for the Accurate 4064 in the 260?

In the meantime, I'll still be checking manuals (and trying to find the receipt and phone number of the guy that sold me the powder. All I know now is that I wrote the check to "Magnum Materials".

Dont use any other caliber's load data in another caliber regardless of the powder charge size. Theres more than one powder that will work with the .260 remington. Which ones, Im not sure but in all of the .308 winchester family cases Ive found that AA2520, W748, H380, Varget, and H414 work great.

Also might want to try some RL15.

just get on the net and search for AA powders... it'll probably be listed on thier website. Always be careful when substituting different powders... Yes it will work, but the unknown variable can be disasterous.

Deer Assassin, you da man!

See, it didn't take you long to pay back for that Ballistic Tip I sent you, did it? HA HA!

I guess those little 20 page "Basic Manuals" they hand out only contain a few of their loads.

Also, in case you guys are interested, the charge for the AA 4064 in the 260 is a bit lower than the load for the 7mm-08. Good to see these published numbers.

Thanks Again!
